NAUTIS

Title:	NAUTIS (NAUTical Information System)
Type:	European collaborative project, involving a variety of partners from public and private sectors, with part-funding from the EC (DG XIII). Marinetech South is coordinating the project under contract to the EC.
Goal:	To create and demonstrate a novel information system to meet the needs of the small boat industry. The system is accessible both on-line (through the WWW) and from a local CD-ROM.

Work Scope

The project was structured in thirteen work packages, covering a range of activities from needs definition to marketing of the demonstrated system. The focus for the content of the database is information on products and services offered by firms; specifically this will help companies to source equipment, professional services and complete craft. Information on technology availability and market data sources are also included.

The system has been operated successfully in a pilot mode, and has been widely praised for the easy access to relevant information that it offers. Further application of the technology is now being planned within the Applicom innovation project.
